Reasons for Exemption
The stream is an intermittent channel within a watershed that has experienced hydraulic mining during the gold rush era. While the watershed has stabilized from past mining activities, the stream channel is in need of minor reconstruction due to recent storm damage. The work being done will not introduce fine sediment into the Trinity River, nor cause disruption to native reptiles, amphibians or invertebrates which may inhabit Lorenz Gulch during winter flows. There will not be any damage or change to riparian vegetation. The project will not increase or decrease the carrying capacity of the stream channel.
