Document Description
To conserve water for landscape maintenance and contribute to groundwater recharge, the Department of General Services is proposing to selectively reduce and replace turf from specific areas in Capitol Park. Each of the turf replacement locations was selected to optimize water savings while minimizing visual impacts. The project involves reduction of the lawn areas on the Capitol's north, south and west sides and replacement by water saving grass varietal and pervious pavers; conversion of the small lawn area on the Capitol's east side to a native plant demonstration garden; replanting of grassy areas under trees with water-saving grass varietals; and replacement of other selected lawn areas along pathways with decomposed granite or walk-on munch.
