The aquatic herbicide applications will be made this year as needed to prevent an emergency situation by managing these water bodies in a timely and appropriate manner to maintain regular conveyance of water. Aquatic herbicide applications are essential to DWR's ability to meet its public health, safety and welfare obligations of protecting drinking water quality and supply from degradation resulting from elevated tastes and odors, production of algal toxins, clogging filtration systems, and reducing water flows.
