The project involves the demolition of two buildings including: removing asbestos, lead based materials, concrete slab and foundation, and all contents; capping all water and sewer lines; disconnecting all power lines; removing a former underground storage tank; and placing a gravel base over the buildings' footprint. Hazardous materials will be removed per City standard specifications.
Class 1 exemptions include the minor alteration of existing facilities including the demolition of small structures. There are no known sensitive environmental resources within the project boundaries that could be affected by this project. Two independent studies confirmed that the buildings are not historic pursuant to State and Federal criteria.
