Reasons for Exemption
The Central Coast Water Board has determined that the project is exempt from the application of the California Environmental Quality Act and the Guidelines under Section 15061(B)(3) since the project does not have the potential to cause a significant effect on the environment. This project only involves taking soil, soil gas, and grab groundwater samples. There will also be three groundwater wells drilled which will be properly destroyed at the end of the project and the surface returned to its original condition. All polluted soil and groundwater samples will be disposed of properly according to state and federal regulations. Any proposed project to begin cleaning up the pollution will require a separate CEQA review.
