Document Description
This project consists of the use of CAL FIRE bulldozers operating on privately owned timberland, & rangeland for the purpose of proficiency training. The project area totals approximately 198 acres in five units, with dozers operating on approximately 10-15% (approximately 30 acre will be treated) of the project area. Dozer operations will simulate fire line construction, safety zone construction, brush clearing/piling & fire line suppression repair. Dozers will also operate blades-up for the purpose of training seasonal firefighters how to perform safely on the fire line when in close proximity to heavy equipment. Dozers will operate on existing ranch roads, tractor roads or else on gentle to moderately sloping terrain located along ridgetops and not near any waterways. The project will be implemented during 2016. This project will allow new and re-certifying CAL FIRE dozer operators the opportunity to practice the safe operation of dozers on varied terrain.
