- Document Description
- Hand crews from Ben Lomond Conservation Camp have been requested by North County Fire Authority to maintain a four acre fuel break adjacent to homes in the San Bruno Mountain area of Brisbane. Approximately 10 years ago, the lower limbs of oak trees were pruned and French broom and coyote brush was removed along a 50 to 150 foot wide strip directly adjacent to 15-20 homes, extending approximately 2,000 feet in length. In order to maintain the effectiveness of this fuel break, crews will cut annual grasses with weed eaters and pull French broom by hand. The project will occur annually, during mid to late spring each year.
