Document Description
This project involves a series of exchange in order for Kern-Tulare water district to recover and take delivery within its boundaries approximately 9,000 AF of previously banked CVP water in Rosedale-Rio Bravo Water Storage District (Rosedale). This stored water would be recovered and transferred into storage in San Luis Reservoir (SLR) by Improvement District No. 4 of the Kern County Water Agency using a combination of 2015 carryover, 2016 Table A Water. These supplies would be delivered to Westlands Water District (Westlands) in SLR, and they would deliver water supplies acquired from Fresno Irrigation District in Millerton Lake. Such supplies would then be delivered to Kern-Tulare via the Friant-Kern Canal. The Project will be used to meet existing crop demands in Kern-Tulare to avoid crop losses due to severe water shortages and drought conditions this year. Kern-Tulare's use of said exchanged water would be for the same purpose and places of use as Kern-Tulare would have used said stored water by direct deliveries, in the absence of the Project. The conveyance and recovery of said exchange waters will be through existing facilities, and the project will not require or result in any construction or result in any development or expansion of any existing uses.
