The development of the West River Street Parkway is an opportunity to provide access for Truckee residents and visitors to the Truckee River. The project will include an ADA accessible riverfront trail, paved picnic and sitting areas, an interpretive sign, native vegetation, and restoration of the riparian edge.
The project site was previously used as a County Corporation Yard and has since been remediated. It is vacant, graded, and unvegetated. As the site was previously developed and is in an urbanized area, there would not be degradation of the environment or habitat by the proposed project. Only landscaping, surface and drainage improvements, and park furniture are proposed as part of this project. No buildings are proposed.
