The Sierra Nevada Conservancy would provide funding to Calaveras Healthy Forests Impact Product Solutions to analyze potential environmental impacts and prepare analyses to comply with NEPA and CEQA for a possible future forest restoration and watershed protection project on 912 BLM-managed acres on both sides of the South Fork of Mokelumne River. The analyses and surveys would address a future on-the-ground fuels treatment project near the community of Glencoe.

The project is a planning project that involves environmental analysis, and the preparation of a CEQA and NEPA document to review possible future forest management actions. The planning project would not involve ground disturbance or physical alterations to the environment. The proposed planning project is categorically exempt from the provisions of CEQA pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15262, which relates to feasibility and planning studies for future actions that have not yet been approved and will not have a legally binding effect on future actions.
