Fifth/Mission Residential/Office (S/MR/O), Public Quasi Public Districts
The 0.83-acre project site is located in Downtown San Rafael at 1313 5th Avenue and 1039 C Street. The site is comprised of three parcels, and currently contains three existing buildings that serve public uses. The proposed project includes removal of all three existing structures on site and construction of a new two-story public safety center building that would replace current fire and police service facilities. The building would total 43,500 sf above ground, including a 22,000 sf basement area to be used for parking. Features of the project would include a plaza and access pathway at the entry of the building on the corner of 5th Ave and D St. Additionally, the facility would feature a 1 1/2 story lobby, which would serve as an area where historic artifacts from the different eras in the history of the city of San Rafael would be displayed.
