The project is limited to tree and shrub removal upstream of the existing dam within the area between the open water and the dam spillway structure. The vegetation removal will be accomplished by cutting to ground level, leaving the roots in place and not excavating or otherwise disturbing the soil layer. After the tree and shrub removal, the project area will remain as low growing grasses, forbs, and other low-growing non-woody vegetation that survive between mowing/trimming maintenance episodes. Habitat enhancement shall be accomplished through the removal of eucalyptus trees, Russian thistle, and other non-native vegetation, as well as the restoration of native habitat at select non-native vegetation removal sites.
