Document Description
The existing fuel break is located at the 4,000' level of the southern Sierra Nevada of eastern Fresno County near the community of Pine Ridge. This 185 acre project is defined as 200' on both sides of Peterson Road. The mixed conifer over story comprised of 90% ponderosa pine has sustained up to 100% mortality in select locations. Understory maintenance and dead tree removal shall be performed to restore fuel break viability. Tree boles shall be limbed, bucked, and decked for land owners non-commercial use or for disposal. Understory maintenance and slash resulting from tree felling shall be chipped, masticated, or pile burned by hand or tractor.
