Reasons for Exemption
This project fits within the descriptions of a Class 1 pertaining to maintenance and repairs to existing landscaping and native growth. After completing an environmental impact analysis, the Dept has determined this project will have no significant impact on the environment. This determination is based on field assessments, CNDDB searches, and an archaeological assessment completed by a CAL FIRE archaeologist on 3/30/2016. All work to be performed under this exemption is maintenance to existing fire defense facilities to provide for public safety and protection of critical infrastructure. Field review by CAL FIRE staff confirmed that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a NOE for this project. The Dept has concluded that no sig environmental impact would occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forestland/timberland, air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils, GHG, hazards and hazardous materials, hydrology and water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, population and housing, public services, recreation, transportation/traffic, or to utilities and service systems following approval and implementation of this project. Documentation of the environmental review completed by Dept is kept on file at CAL FIRE HUU Headquarters in Fortuna.
