Document Description
DWR proposes to continue implementation of a watercraft inspection and education program to prevent the introduction of quagga and zebra mussels in the Castaic Lake State Recreation Area (CLSRA). The program will be operated by Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation (LADPR), under contract with DWR. LADPR will inspect watercraft for mussels before entering the water at three locations in CLSRA: the main launch ramp located on the east side of Castaic Lake, the west launch ramp on Castaic Lake; and the launch ramp on Castaic Lagoon. These three locations are the only points where watercraft may lunch in the CLSRA. LADPR will also educate visitors of the threat to the lake from the spread of mussels with signage and handouts.
