Document Description
The project includes two phases. Phase 1 is limited to dredging and removal of approximately 124 cubic yards of gravel from a 2,509-square-foot dredge area at the Sierra Boat Company entrance channel and slips. Duee to a very low detection of "diesel" in the seiment sample collected, the material will be removed from the harbor to a legal point of disposal outside the basin. A special excavator is being rented for the work that is designed for this type of dredging project. The excavator will have a 60-foot reach with a specilly designed, perforated bucket to facilitate dewatering. Any residual water will be allowed to filter through the relocated gravel, behind the turbidity screen. A turbidity curtain will be placed around the harbor entrance, slips and beach area to protect water quality during the dredging operation. The second phase of the project will entai mobilizing similar equipment into the harbor and remvoing approximately 158 cubic yards of material from behind the bulkhead as shown on the site plan as noted in the above description and methodology.
