Document Description
The scope of the Projects at the six (6) schools listed above include replacing deteriorated pavement, installing low-impact development (LID) features and implementing American with disabilities Act (ADA) compliance improvements. The paving and LID features will be designed in compliance with the State Water Board's Post-Construction Water Balance Calculator, the District's Storm Water Technical Manual, and the Los Angeles County's low Impact Development Manual. These features will help improve school site drainage during rain events. The specific paving and low impact features of these Projects are: removing impermeable pavement, replacing turn with drought tolerant plants, planting trees, and installing features such as bioswales, permeable pavement, cisterns, raingardens, stormwater planters, and rain barrels to capture, treat, and infiltrate stormwater. A ficus tree and a eucalyptus tree will need to be removed at Normandie ES, and tow ficus trees will be removed at Webster MS. These trees have surface roots that are destroying hardscape and posing a safety/trip hazard.
