The specific project to be analyzed through the Initial Study includes the land acquisition of the subject parcel APN:030-241-20. The intended purpose of the land acquisition is to expand the Soquel Creek Water District's "land banking" for various possible future projects. The district recently purchased the adjacent property, APN 030-241-22 located directly to the north of the subject parcel. No specific use for the project site has been identified at this time. Future projects could include (but are not limited to); 1) increasing the parking and/or corporation yard capacity that could be available for employee/visitor parking, fleet vehicles and equipment storage, 2) relocation and/or addition of administrative building, or 3) water treatment facility. A future water treatment facility would be evaluated through a subsequent CEQA evaluation.
