Document Description
The proposal is a request for a CUP for an enclosed contractor's storage yard incidental to a contractor's business office pursuant to Section 19.32.030.D of the Kern County Zoning Ordinance for a new Southern California Edison Company service center. The project site consists of three parcels, totaling 5.9 acres, all zoned C-2 (General Commercial) by the Kern County Zoning Ordinance and with a 7.2 (service industrial) Designation by the Kern River Valley Specific Plan. The site is predominately undeveloped and appears to only be used for storage purposes. Surrounding properties are characterized with mostly commercial zoning to the north, south, and west, to the east there is an established mobilehome park located across the Southern California Edison Canal that provided the eastern border of the project site. The proposed service center will consist of the following newly constructed facilities: administration building, pre-fab shop building with a material storage canopy, service garage, truck parking canopy, and fuel island. The facility will employ a total of twenty (20) full time staff members and will have a total of twelve heavy truck trips per day.
