- Document Description
- The project, which would occur on four sites, would consolidate existing oil operations and implement a wetlands habitat restoration project that would provide access opportunities to this portion of the Los Cerritos Wetlands. The Zoning Code Amendment consists of changes to the Southeast Area Development and Improvement Plan (SEADIP/PD-1). The Oil Map Amendment would update the City's oil map to reflect future oil production areas. Existing oil operations on the Synergy Oil Field and City Property sites would be phased out over time, and new oil production facilities would be constructed and operated on the Pumpkin Patch (50 wells) and LCWA sites (70 wells). The northern portion of the Synergy Oil Field site would be restored to a natural wetlands area, while oil operations on the southern portion of the Synergy Oil Field and on the City Property site would continue for up to 40 years, but would ultimately be phased out as new operations are established on the Pumpkin Patch and LCWA sites. The Site Plan Review and Certificate of Compliance authorize the construction of a 5,200 sq. ft. office building and 9,750 sq. ft. warehouse on the Pumpkin Patch site to support the oil operations, relocation of the Bixby Ranch Field Office 400 feet southwest of its current location and repurposing it as a visitors' center with a new parking area and perimeter trail, and confirmation of the LCWA parcel.
