Document Description
The purpose of the proposed project is to provide interim bikeway improvements an approximately 1.2 mile section of Bayshore Bikeway Segment 5. The Bayshore bikeway is a regional corridor that will eventually extend 24 miles of Class I bike path around San Diego Bay as described in SANDAG's Bayshore Bikeway Plan. The Bayshore Bikeway is currently unbuilt in the project location. The interim improvements would consist of striping Class II bike lanes for approximately 5,500 lienar feet along both sides of Tidelands Avenue within the existing developed roadway from the southern terminus of a planned Class I Bike path located approximately 900 feet south until West 32nd Street, and a Class III bikeway from approximately 1,000 feet, consisting of painted "sharrows" (shared lane markings) within the existing roadway on West 32nd Street from Tidelands Avenue to the existing segment of Bayshore Bikeway at National City Marina.
