Document Description
The SREAM Project is a collaboration between San Joaquin county (County), the North San Joaquin Water Conservation District (NSJWCD), and East Bay Municipal District (EBMUD). The DREAM Project consists of a one-time, short-term pilot conjunctive use groundwater replenishment project of limited scale involving 1,000 acre-feet of surface water supply provided by EBMUD. The NSJWCD South System surface water distribution facility will be rehabilitated and used to convey the surface water to farmlands currently pumping groundwater. In exchange for providing the surface water supply, EBMUD would receive up to 500 AF of groundwater extracted from an existing well for export to EBMUD customers. A new 2.8-mile pipeline would also be constructed from the extraction well south to EBMUD's existing Mokelumne Aqueducts where the water will be pressurized and injected into the aqueduct system. Improvements to the NSJWCD intake and distribution system are planned for 2018 through 2019 and the design and construction of the new pipeline and aqueduct tie-in to convey the extracted groundwater to the Mokelumne Aqueducts are planned for 2018 through 2020. Construction will occur east of the City of Lodi, west of the unincorporated community of Lockeford and south of the Mokelumne River in San Joaquin county.
