The proposed project will convey the transferred and/or exchanged surface water from Central California Irrigation District's Poso Canal across the San Joaquin River (SJR) to areas in Western Madera County. The water will be conveyed to farmers on the eastside of the river and to future and existing grower recharge basins through existing pipeline and turnouts. The Project consists of a SJR crossing described as the Red Top Pipeline crossing. The pipeline will connect a new turnout at the Paso Canal, to existing pump stand on the other side of the SJR. The connecting pipeline will be approx. 452 feet in length and will be either be placed across the river using a jack and bore technique, or placed across the river using an open cut trench.
