Document Description
The proposed project is to retrofit Connector Pipe Screens (CPS) to approximately existing 45 catch basins in the City that are tributary to the Santa Monica Bay. The CPS units are stainless steel screens with 5mm openings and an overflow feature) permanently installed inside the existing basins that trap gross pollutants (trash, vegetative debris, mud, etc.) and prevent further passage into the storm drain system. The project will improve water quality through pollution prevention and source control as well as protect public health through the reduction of trash and debris in the Santa Monica Bay.

Reasons for Exemption
The Catch Basin Insert project is intended to improve water quality by preventing water run-off pollutants from entering storm drains that drain to the Santa Monica Bay. The catch basin inserts will be installed in approximately 45 existing storm drain facilities within the City of Rolling Hills Estates. No new storm drain facilities will be constructed. The proposed project will not result in adverse impacts to the surrounding environment.
