Document Description
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) has approved entering into a two-year Seasonal Fallowing Pilot Program with the Bard Water District. The Pilot Program entails the temporary, seasonal (April through July), voluntary fallowing of farmland within the Bard Unit. Farmland would be fallowed by farmers within the Bard Unit who would voluntarily enter into agreements with Metropolitan, under which Metropolitan would monetarily compensate those voluntary participants for temporarily fallowing farmland. An amount of Colorado River water equal to the amount saved by this temporary, seasonal following would be diverted into the Colorado River Aqueduct by Metropolitan.
