Document Description
Repair plaster and wood beams and address problems of moisture infiltration at the Sonoma Mission in Sonoma State Historic Park to preserve and maintain this historic resource. Work will: - Remove bushes at base of east wall of chapel to encourage drying of the ground; - Remove lead flashing over beams at drive-through area and replace with copper flashing; - Use borate rods and minimal wood epoxy to treat eight (8) beams on the east end wall; - Use a low chemical biocide detergent to wash and clean exterior cement plaster finish; - Fill remaining cracks in cement with lime mix or onsite mix; - Coat surface of mission north wall with an inorganic mineral silicate paint; and - Reattach up to four (4) misaligned or missing roof tiles. All work follows recommendations of a 2008 assessment by an Architectural Conservator, and will meet Secretary of Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
