Document Description
Complete repair and maintenance work at the historic Petaluma Adobe Structure in Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park to maintain and protect the integrity of the historic resource and address safety concerns. Work will: - Fill cracks and holes in historic adobe bricks and mud plaster; Plaster the northeast wall of the Petaluma Adobe to test plaster as a pest deterrent; - Stabilize all adobe walls that have been identified as potentially dangerous using methods prescribed by a qualified structural engineer and approved by a fully qualified California State Parks cultural resource specialist; - Use insecticides, trapping, and exclusion to eliminate structure damaging pests including but not limited to wood boring insects, rodents, ground squirrels, and non-native birds; - Repair existing damage caused by ground squirrels; - Patch and repair or replace in kind damaged and rotted wood throughout the structure; and - Rill opening behind and among non-historic wood blocks above the Fandango and Married Servants quarters after humane exclusion of bats that roost in the openings.
