Document Description
Located approximately 1,000 feet upstream of Daguerre Point Dam on the south bank of the lower Yuba River, the South Canal Diversion diverts water from the lower Yuba River to approximately 30,000 acres of land in south Yuba County. Currently, fish screening/fish protection at the South Canal Diversion is provided by a 450-foot-long porous rock gabion berm fitted with a fine-mesh barrier within the barrier. Although this structure is intended to protect juvenile fish from becoming diverted from the river, the level of protection has been questioned by NMFS and CDFW. The EIR will analyze several alternatives at the project site that would improve protection of anadromous almonids in the Yuba River at the South Canal Diversion.
