Document Description
The proposed project consists of a 500 kilovolt transmission that would connect the California-Oregon Transmission Project on the west side of the Sacramento Valley, in Colusa or Yolo counties, to Western Area Power Administration's (WAPA) and SMUD's existing substations in Sutter or Sacramento counties. The Colusa-Sutter Transmission Line (CoSu Line) is needed to enhance reliability of the electrical grid in Northern California and provide a new energy pathway for SMUD to import power from and export power to energy markets in the Pacific Northwest. From Dec. 18, 2015 to April 18, 2016 there was an initial EIS/EIR scoping period for a proposed project located in Colusa and Sutter counties. In response to public and agency comments received, SMUD and WAPA have added a third study area corridor located in Yolo and Sacramento counties for public scoping.
