Document Description
The purpose of this project is to reduce the risk of fire danger and to restore the native habitats within Oceano Dunes SVRA between Pier Ave and the "Interp Trail" beach access road. Current conditions of the proposed project area include highly-vegetated back dunes comprising primarily living and non-living non-native plants. The conditions of the project area have resulted in a serious wildfire threat to the surrounding community and to ODSVRA from the buildup of non-native vegetation. In addition to wildlife risk, the non-native vegetation has also altered dun morphology, native vegetation composition and native animal diversity. The wildlifes are believed to have orginated from illegal campfires, which have been occurring over the past several years, from local transient's encampments.
