Document Description
The project is limited to improvements to existing outfall infrastructure and replacement of the diffuser pipe in the Sacramento River. A replacement 17-foot-long river diffuser will be installed at the same location on the riverbank as the existing 5-foot-long diffuser, but rotated down to be completely submerged during low-flow periods. Some submerged rock will be shifted to allow the new diffuser to be installed. The work area will be limited to 10 feet on either side of the dissipation tank, outfall pipeline, and diffuser, and out towards the centerline of the river. Up to 1 lineal foot of the Sacramento River will be permanently impacted and up to approximately 0.01 acres (± 21 lineal feet) of the Sacramento would be temporarily impacted by work occurring within the ordinary high-water mark. Because of the steepness of Box Canyon, the Permittee proposes that the use of a helicopter may be required to
transport heavy equipment (i.e. air hammer and pipe) to the work area for improvements to the diffuser.
