Document Description
The Refinery historically used the East and West Retention Basins under normal operating conditions. Excess water from rainfall, together with untreated process water used as a coolant, was temporarily stored in the basins. The water was treated at the refinery's wastewater treatment plant and then discharged to he Los Angeles County Sanitation District (LACSD). The basins are located within the centrally positioned Main Refinery area which includes refinery facilities, a cogeneration plant, the majority of the refinery's product shipping facilities and a product storage area.
