Document Description
The proposed project is limited to the installation of 17.49 acres of benthic bottom barriers within the stream channel and associated wetlands to remove aquatic invasive plants (AIP) within Taylor and Tallac Creeks. The barriers will be strategically placed to cover as much of the infested areas as possible. Any areas of infestation that cannot be covered with barriers will be hand pulled and AIP will be properly disposed of offsite. Floating vessels and platforms will be used to support the placement of the barriers in the stream channels. A variety of vehicles will be used to access and bring materials to the AIP infested areas including trucks, a quad, a side by side, an amphibious vehicle, and trailers. Specialized equipment that will be used in the wetlands to assist with bottom barrier placement are designed for a medium duty cycle in mud, flooded areas, and deep snow, providing very low ground pressure. Barriers are anticipated to remain in place for three years.
