Document Description
The project is limited installation of a municipal storm drain and outfall to convey stormwater. The storm drain will consist of a buried 60-inch diameter trunkline which will tie into the City of Elk Grove's existing 24- to 36-inch storm drain system and outfall into Mahon Pond. The last 300 feet of the storm drain as it approaches Mahon Pond will consist of a 72-inch diameter trunkline. A 72-inch reinforced concrete pipe outfall with rock slope protection will be constructed within Mahon Pond. The outfall will contain a headwall and metal flap gate. The outfall and associated rock slope protection will cover approximately 0.007 acres. Maintenance access to the trunkline will be achieved through several manholes and a graveled access road. During installation of the outfall, portions of the pond will be enhanced by removing several feet of sediment from the pond bed and thinning thick clumps of cattails. Portions of the pond will be regraded to obtain a maximum depth of approximately 6-feet around the edges where the outfall of the outfall installation area. Grading will continue to taper off further away from the outfall creating shallower elevations to eventually match the existing pond bed. Once completed the pond will have more open water and emergent wetland habitat available for local aquatic species. Approximately 1.72 acres of the pond will be enhanced.
