Metro is proposing to build a new Emergency Security Operations Center in downtown Los Angeles to integrate the functions of the Emergency Operations Control, Rail Operations Control. The existing emergency facilities of have limited space to accommodate expansion programs. Furthermore it is important to develop a central location to house these operation centers to allow centralizing communications and coordination thereby improving business continuity in day to day operations as well as enhancing Metro's disaster and terrorism response capabilities.
