Document Description
The 2015 update to the Safety Element provides a discussion of existing requirements and regulations pertaining to natural and human-made hazards. This update is intended to supersede the existing Seismic/Safety Element (adopted in 1992) of the Lawndale General Plan. The Safety Element establishes preventative and responsive policies and programs to reduce the potential impacts associated with hazards that may affect the City of Lawndale. The Safety Element addresses geologic and seismic hazards, flood hazards, fire hazards, hazardous materials, airport operations, emergency preparedness, and response planning. The 2015 update provides a comprehensive review of the existing element and relevant regulations to develop a current framework from which to establish updated goals and policies, as well as to provide updated mapping of potential hazards.
