Document Description
The proposed project consists of minor street improvements necessary to construct a 200-foot section of the proposed Inland Rail Trail. The proposed improvements would be constructed within a new road right-of-way that would add a third through lane to the westerly side of the street, which would allow the rail trail to be constructed in its ultimate location and minimize conflicts with vehicles. Specific improvements would include an 8-foot wide sidewalk that would serve as a multi-use path for two-way pedestrian and bicycle use, a 5-foot wide landscaped buffer, re-paving and re-striping a portion of the street, minor grading, and relocation/reconfiguration of existing utilities. The future inland Rail Trail would join the project improvements at the north end to cross the railroad racks, and at the south end curb ramp to cross Civic Center Drive and continue into the NCTD Sprinter Station. Easements required to accommodate the project will be acquired by negotiation, or if necessary, by eminent domain.
