Document Description
CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2015-0032-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the County of Orange. Project is limited to stream impacts associated with the Peters Canyon Channel Maintenance Project. The purpose of the project is to improve the stream's flood control capacity, correspondingly reducing the risk of flooding to the surrounding area during major rain events. Excavators, dump trucks, front-end loaders, and hand-held tools will be used within Peters Canyon Wash to routinely perform vegetation clearing and sediment removal within the channel bottom. Vegetation will be routinely removed from the stream bottom with the exception of a 10 foot wide vegetated corridor adjacent to the low flow channel. A 10-foot wide strip of vegetation will be avoided and undisturbed at the channel bottom during each maintenance episode. The 10-foot wide corridor will be a migrating vegetative strip and will allow for the establishment of wetland plant species, and may move position within the channel to follow the patterns of sediment accumulation within the stream. Sediment removal will routinely occur to re-establish as-built conditions.
