The Sierra Nevada Conservancy would provide $230,115 in funding to Alpine County to implement the 2016-2015 Markleevillage Fuels Reduction Project. The project would treat a total of 234 acres to reduce wildlife risk. A total of 140 acres would be treated between Nov. 2016 and March 2017, and a second 94 acre treatment area would be treated between Nov. 2017 and March 2018. The project would involve the removal of brush, small trees and under story fuels by mechanical mastication.
