Document Description
Project is limited to the removal of an existing 400-foot-long bridge and replacement with a new Alaskan yellow cedar wooden bridge at the same location. The existing bridge includes four 100-foot spans of pressured treated wood, each with a deck width of eight feet. It is supported by steel trusses on either side, steel floor beams and stringers, vertical steel piles, and inclined tiebacks, with steel trusses on either side, steel floor beams and stringers, vertical steel piles, and inclined tiebacks, with steel posts, beams, and diagonal rod bracing. The project will be constructed in three stages: 1) removal and disposal of the existing bridge superstructure, 2) rehabilitation of the existing substructure, and 3) placement and installation of the replacement superstructure including replacement of two existing short retaining walls that are located outside of the riparian area. Additionally, dewatering is not anticipated to be required. Materials will be prevented from entering the channel by suspending plastic sheeting over the channel during removal of the section of bridge over the creek, in such a way that does not require in-water access or modification to the channel banks. Removal of .13 acre of invasive cape ivy will also occur after installation of the bridge. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2015-0031-R3 is pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1602.
