Document Description
The City of Palo Alto and the California Department of Transportation proposes to replace the Newell Road Bridge and roadway approaches across San Francisquito Creek. Four build alternatives are under consideration; Build Alternative 2 is the locally preferred alternative. The design features of these build alternatives could include removal of the existing bridge; construction of new approaches, either a one-lane bridge (Build Alternative 1) or a two-standard-lane bridge (Build Alternatives 2-4), and accommodation for bicycle and pedestrian travel (including sidewalk and potential road widening for sharrow); potential addition and reconfiguration of utilities including street lighting; modification to street signage or new traffic signals; addition
of retaininq walls; and bank stabilization measures in the portion of San Francisquito Creek disturbed by the construction.
