Document Description
The purpose of this project is to archive a historic swimming pol using reversible techniques. With the pool decommissioned, State Parks will eliminate any liability for injuries associated with the empty pool and costs associated with maintaining and operating it. the first step in this process would be to open the drain of the pool and ensure it is free of any blockage. Next, the pool will be lined with a permeable non-woven geotextile to prevent any abrasion that could further damage the pool's plaster. Once lined, the pool will be filled with about 5 feet of 1" drain rock to about one-foot above the drain located on the wall of the pool. Another piece of non-woven geotextile would be placed over the sand then capped with a layer of crowned native soil stockpiled in the Point Mugu Day use parking area. This layer of soil would then be planted with native shrubs and grasses to provide stability and help prevent erosion. All BMP's would be put into place until vegetation has had time to take hold. This work would be done with a CCC crew and wheelbarrows to prevent the potential negative impacts of heavy equipment damaging the pool or surrounding landscape.
