Document Description
The proposed project is the Chula Vista Challenge (CVC) Olympic Distance Triathlon & Duathlon, which will take place at the Chula Vista Bayside Park in Chula Vista on Saturday July 18, 2015 and Sunday July 19, 2015. The District will provide sponsorship in the form of District services for the event, which includes a choice of a Duathlon (bicycle and run), Triathlon (swim, bicycle and run) or Kids Race of varying distances based on age. Event setup will occur at the Chula Vista Bayside Park on Friday July 17, 2015 at 3:00 pm and will end on Sunday July 19, 2015 at 11:00am. On Saturday July 18th, the South Bay Sprint Duathlon will include cycling from Bayside Park inland to south Chula Vista and back, and a 5 km run along Chula Vista Bayfront. The Sprint Triathlon will also include a 500 meter swim in San Diego Bay from Bayside Park. On Sunday July 19, 2015, the Olympic Duathlon consists of a 5 km run through Bayside & Bayfront parks, a 40 km cycle from Bayside Park to Eastlake, and other 10 km run in East Chula Vista. The Olympic Triathlon also includes a 1,500 meter swim. The event has an anticipated attendance of approx. 1,000 people. Public parking will be available at the Bayside Park parking lot and along the streets in the vicinity. Approx. 40 parking spaces will be reserved for event organizers at the District's dirt parking lot located north of Plover and on the west side of Quay Avenue.
