Document Description
The project consists of the construction of new stormwater improvements at the Kiefer Landfill. Project construction will involve the placement of a 24-inch diameter corrugated polyethylene (CPE) pipe with a minimum grade of -0.5 percent. The gravity flow line would extend southeast from the existing manhole at the public entrance along Kiefer Boulevard for approximately 1,200 feet to an existing manhole upstream of the concrete lined stormwater channel discharging to Sedimentation Basin A. The alignment of the pipe will be adjacent to Kiefer Boulevard and after the contractor entrance will veer eastward around the native tree plantings. One new stormdrain inlet will be installed near the main entrance. Three new manholes will be constructed, one on each side of the contractor entrance, and one at the terminus of the existing stormwater pipe north of the native tree plantings. Construction methods will use a box trench design to achieve proper pipe depth when below grade. The limits of work will be limited to a 14-foot wide area along the alignment adjacent to Kiefer Boulevard and a 30-foot wide area along the overland alignment. An unnecessary drainage inlet and an asphalt ramp will be removed and a 110-foot section of chain link fence will be removed and replaced.
