Document Description
The Port of Stockton proposes to construct two new placement sites on Twitchell Island (35 and 18 acres) and one new placement site on Mandeville Island (17 acres) for accepting maintenance dredged sediment from the Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel. The proposed project involves construction activities to prepare the new site for use, placing dredge slurry in the sites as part of federal operations and maintenance activities, and maintaining the sites between dredging episodes in the future as needed. Containment berms would be constructed around the perimeter of each proposed placement area using existing on-site soil, and there would be no impacts to wetlands or jurisdictional waters. Berm construction activities would occur over 6 weeks for each site and are expected to begin in August 2015 and be complete by summer of 2016.
