Document Description
CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2016-0033-R2, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Sacramento Municipal Utility district. Project is limited to the following activities: 1. Placement of a temporary coffer dam in Slab Creek to allow for dewatering of part o the stream. 2. Construction of a small power generation facility, including the pouring of a concrete foundation for the facility behind the temporary coffer dam. 3. Construction of a Boating Flows Release Valve and related structure: a. A concrete vault to contain the release valve. b. Placement of the Release valve. c. Construction of an energy/flow dissipater for the release valve. 4. Construction of a steel penstock 8 feet in diameter to connect the White Rock Tunnel through an existing adit to the proposed power house and release valve. The penstock is approx. 400 feet long (most of this will be placed within the existing adit, and will split into two separate pipes immediately after emerging from the adit to provide separate water supplies to the power house and the release valve. 5. Placement of a temporary crossing bridge over Lower Iowa Canyon Creek to allow heavy equipment access to the site of the proposed power house and release valve. 6. Removal of the current undersize Lower Iowa Canyon Creek Bridge and replacement with a new single span bridge, including placement of new abutments. 7. Realignment and contouring of at least the lower 200 feet of the bed and channel of Iowa Canyon Creek to return it to natural conditions. 8. Placement of gravel augmentation in the South Fork of the American River below the Slab Creek Reservoir dam for purposes of trout spawning habitat enhancement. 9. Habitat improvement of the South Fork of the American River to improve flows and establish riffle habitat and return low flows to surface flows vs sub surface flows. 10. Temporary placement of up to 300 cubic yards of rock and construction debris on an elevatd gravel bar during construction and habitat enhancement activities.
