Document Description
The project is the approval of a Removal Action Workplan by the DTSC that would authorize activities to address organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) detected in shallow soil at the proposed New Murray School site. Activities to be conducted pursuant to the approved RAW include: - excavation of a burial cell onsite for impacted soil; - removal of impacted soil; - collection of confirmation soil samples from the exposed excavation sidewalls and bottoms; - backfill the burial cell to a depth no shallower than 2 ft below grade; - construction of an engineered cap, consisting of a permeable geotextile mat overlain by a 2-ft thick soil cover, above the buried soil; - development of some level of post construction institutional controls, including a DTSC approved land use restriction, so that future owners of the property were aware of the presence of buried pesticide impacted soil and the conditions applicable to its disturbance; and - development of a long term operation and maintenance program involving periodic inspections and as needed maintenance would be required to ensure that the cap remains undisturbed and continues to function as intended.
