Water Reclamation Plant No. 7 Biosolids Upgrade Project

The proposed biosolids upgrade project at WRP 7 will maximize the existing capacity and provide redundancy to the biosolids handling system by constructing a new facility to replace the existing facility that is over 16 years old. The new facility will be constructed on CVWD land within the existing and fenced WRP 7 site. The proposal includes a new building structure that will house these improvements: gravity belt thickener units; sludge dewatering units; polymer blender units; polymer storage; sludge grinders; a conveyor; and truck scales. A below-grade concrete structure is also proposed and will house a sludge holding tank and a pump station. An odor control bio-filter vessel will be installed adjacent to the below-grade concrete structure. The entire biosolids facility will be located within the WRP 7 fenced area on an approximately 5-acre site within the western portion of the WRP 7 site just south of the existing tertiary filter and chlorine contact chamber. The western area of the existing WRP 7 site upon which the Project will be located is regularly maintained by grading and has no built improvements or underground utilities located there. The proposed biosolids upgrade project will consolidate all biosolids handling operations under one building; thus resulting in labor and operational efficiency by locating it in closer proximity to related treatment processes.
