Document Description
DTSC, pursuant to authority granted under Ch. 6.8, Division 20, Sections 25323.1 and 25356.1 of the Health and Safety Code (H&SC), approved a draft final Removal Action Workplan (RAW) as submitted in November 2014 for the Former San Joaquin Drum Company site. The purpose of this project is to remediate soil impacted with volatile organic compounds (VOCs), Chlordane, Toxaphene, Dieldrin Heptachlor Epoxide, 4, 4-DDE, arsenic, and lead that exceed the project-specific cleanup levels, and to minimize human exposure to the identified chemicals of concerns (COCs). The RAW focuses on excavation and offsite disposal of 330 cubic yards of potentially contaminated concrete slab/foundation material and the application an asphalt/concrete cover (cap) on an area of approx. one half acre of impacted soil. Implementation of the RAW is scheduled to commence in early June 2015, and is expected to take approx. 3 weeks to complete. Upon completion of the RAW, a Land Use Covenant (LUC)/Controls will be implemented to prohibit cap disturbance, prohibit the use of the property as a residence, hospital, school, daycare center and limit Site use to commercial/industrial purposes.
