Water Treatment Plant Improvement Project
NOE - Notice of Exemption
Currently, backwash water at the CSP-Solano water treatment plant is discharged into the City of Solano sanitary sewer system. The project is to construct a holding pond for the prison's backwash water so that it can be sent through the head works of the prison's water treatment plant for purification to produce potable water. The new pond will be constructed next to existing holding ponds in a developed and disturbed area of the prison.
The project will result in water conservation and savings in sewer system disposal costs.
The project consists of minor alteration of an existing water treatment facility in a developed, disturbed area of an existing prison, where there are no sensitive resources, and involves a negligible expansion of use. The project falls under the class of projects that the Secretary for Resources has found does not have a significant effect on the environment, and therefore is declared to be categorically exempt from the requirement for preparing an environmental document.
